This award has been donated by Sue and Ben Gorham in memory of Mal Gorham, a Life Member of the Club. The award is voted on by all players on a 3-2-1 system for the most valuable player for that game. The award is open for all players irrespective of grade.
Games where First Grade only play are not included in the voting. The award is not purely for the best statistics but is for the player/s that made the greatest contribution to the team that game.
2015 -16 Winner: Colin Barry
Colin Barry is the winner of this year's Mal Gorham Medal after an exceptional season, leading the 3rd. Grade side with both bat and ball.
Col committed to a full year as Captain of 3rd. Grade in the hope of adding some experience and leadership to the middle grades. He did that and plenty more. Col finished with an astonishing 37 wickets @ 10.19 and chipped in with 177 runs at 19.67.
Col's year was so dominant with the ball that, despite missing two games, he still managed to finish ten wickets clear of any other bowler in the dub.
Under Col's leadership, 3rd. Grade was the best performed team in the Club, finishing one point away from what would have been a thoroughly deserved Final's berth. Thankfully, Col has agreed to go around next year and, hopefully, the Club can provide him with enough support to have a crack at that elusive premiership.
Congratulations on a brilliant year, Col. Not just as an opening bowler but also as a leader for the Club.
